Day 05 - Duncannon Post
I walked 63558 steps on the trail today.
I traveled about 29.5 miles today.
This view from the north across the Cumberland Valley shows the mountains where I started hiking this morning. From this nice view, I still had 12 miles of mountain trail to reach Duncannon, PA which I did a little after 7pm. Dead tired and out of water, I stumbled into town to find a bit more walking required due to a construction detour. Finally reaching the Doyle hotel here just before John locked the door made my extra efforts on the trail pay off. I'm checking in with a doctor tomorrow for my knee to see what can be done about it. As you can see from the miles of today, I can still hike but it's miserable and it would be dumb to force more injury. I met few people today, just a couple SoBos and some day hikers. The rain probably kept folks off the trail.

I'm sorry you're knee is hurting. Hopefully the doctor will help. Always wonderful to see those photos you post. Years and years ago I emailed you asking for advice on hiking and you gave me hope - I've been hiking ever since ! Of course we don't have mountains in Alabama but still one day I hope to experience the AT. Best to you Hiking Dude ! You give everyone hope :-)

Hey Hiking Dude,
I'm an "old" lady from Sweden, reading and following your blog. I hope your knee will be better so you can continue hiking (without pain!)
Soon, my intention, I'll live a simplier life. And maybe I'll set off for a hiking project in Spain.
However, I'll give my adult kids all my old stuff (already get started). From now and on I'll discover more of the world instead

@bren and others - Hey, thanks for the concern. See my post of today for the :-( quick finish :-( of my hike. The knee is fine, but I'm doing mental recovering at home today so I can go out on some shorter hikes soon.
